2008 February: Drag Race – Sentul

We got this email invitation for a Drag Race. Hm its is quite interesting, just for fun and could be used as a start practicing event for us:

This kind of event is usually full by Harley Davidson bikers and crowd since this is where they show the advantage of HD bikes which usually quite good for the first 400 m straight race. These are HD crowd who came to the event:

Getting queries how if Ducati bikes race with HD and in particular some HD bikes specifically modified for drag race?? Although this is NOT a real Drag Race and more for fun, some Ducatista try to get the answer of their queries. Ducati Team consist of Andre (Monster S4), Jedi (Monster S2R 1000), Ramos (SBK 996), Satar (Multistrada 1000DS), Bobby (SS 900) and I (SBK 1098).

It is the Ducati Team’s base tend:

Ok, get ready… get ready…

I, Jedi and Ramos waiting for the last inspection process before entering into the track:

Andre warm up the competition. Ride a standard 2002 Monster S4, he could beat 2 HD bikes which have a lot bigger size of engine and been fully modified for drag race:

This is Andre who always has a very good start and run like an arrow thereafter and finally finished in front.

This is my first experience in Drag. Immediately after start Mulyadi (Suzuki GSX) left me behind:

I not intentionaly wheeled and lose 1-2 seconds to stabilize my bike thereafter. However, lucky me, I still managed to get closer to Mulyadi on the half run and finished in front of him on the finish line.

Ramos on Ducati 996 at his first starts and left a green Kawasaki Ninja behind:

Satar on his Multistrada its 1000DS was a bit slower at the beginning but finally catching up and finish in front of a HD Ultra:

Jedi (S2R 1000) beat by Bobby (SS 900) on the first run:

Jedi open the throttle wide to the finish line:

It is my turn on 1098 vs. Ramos 996. Hm.. I still lose some second because of unintended wheelie at the beginning but get surprise that the 996 was left far behind….

Andre is a drag specialist. This time he ride a modified Dyna with standard tires and still finish in front of a special drag race HD:

I still got a change one more round with Bobby (SS900). I have a very good start and left him far away behind.

Hm.. this 1098s is really powerful bike:

My Ducati 1098s:

Passing Check Point before entering the track:

Ochi, carry his Ducati 1098 on his Nissan Serena:

With a celebrity look, Jedi always be the target of media or the MC and he has to represent us in a short interview.

Overall, Ducati Team was happy. All Ducati bikes participated in this fun drag race event could finish in front of other non Ducati bike. The fastest for motorcycle class was recorded by Andre on a Ducati Monster S4 at 10,9 second. My time is 11.9 second. Hm.. I guess Ducati Team could have enough members and bikes (just a standard would be ok) to participate on the next real drag race….

The End.
